American Spaces are the face of the United States in hundreds of communities around the world. The success of an American Space in achieving its goals is directly dependent on an overall effective management strategy that integrates input from embassy to partner to coordinator and staff, involving the Regional Program Engagement Specialist in every part of of the process.

Among the tools of successful management are an annual strategic plan, a focus on the American Spaces standards; a strategy for evaluating the impact of the American Space on the visitor; a plan for using data to drive future decisions about programming and use of space; creative and motivational staff management; and understanding the elements of building strong community partnerships.
